I myself love reading Stephen King novels. One of the things I love most is his in depth characters. He makes me feel as if I know the character personally just by reading the book. I also enjoy his descriptive way of describing the scenes as they take place.

What says you? Love him or hate him?

I love the guy. He's amazingly great. I agree with you when you say his characters have so much depth, it's what makes him such a success. From the books of his I've read so far The Stand has the most characterization, and by the end of it you really understand the characters and feel sorry for the ones that had to end it in Las Vegas. Crying or Very sad

What I like the most is how he can write a journey so well. He did it all the way through The Stand but that's not entirely what I mean. The only journey bit from The Stand that I thought was excellent was at the end, when Stu and Tom Cullen had to get back to Boulder in the snow. He also described a similar journey at the end of The Dark Tower and all the way through Cell. What's so great about these scenes is that he expands them over 100 pages or so and it's never boring and you don't ever want it to end, because of how good the characters are. Anyway, just my thoughts.

You hit the nail on the head. I know exactly what you mean about him being able to write a journey. You actually feel as if your on the journey. I love that.

Even if it is something as simple as a kid walking in a sweet shop he will spend five pages explaining every detail. He is pretty damn good. He makes ideas believable, even if they are so farfetchedeg, Cell.
