Ladder 49 |
|
So I just watched this thrilling movie, and let me just say, it was on FIRE!!!
(Pun Intended)
So I was pretty bored with the idea of watching this film, but after I sat down with my family and watched the movie I found out that I was greatly mistaken before.
The acting by the whole cast was done at a very high standard, Joaquin Pheonix especially and may I say John Travolta's acting has aged quite well.
The film had a very emotional ending and I was quite unhappy to say the least to see what happened at the end, but the whole film was made very well. How it cut back and forth from the present to the past throughout the film was brilliant editing.
The only flaw with the film would be that the story could have been a bit more interesting for me to actually want to see the movie. Other than that I cannot think of anything else.
I give this movie 4/5 stars and I am quite content with its hype.
Any other opinions?

I love this movie, and being a firefighter it depicts what really happens. I wish it turned out differently but in real life that type of ending happens all the time.
If you like Ladder 49, you might like Backdraft.
Backdraft is about Chicago firefighters trying to stop an arsonist who uses backdraft fires to kill people. Excellent movie starring, Kurt Russell, Robert Deniro, Donald sutherland, William Baldwin, Scot Glenn, Rebecca Demornay, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
If you havn't seen it, check it out.

I have infact seen backdraft, but many years ago when I was younger. I do however remember loving this movie when I was small and I have been meaning to watch it again recently. Perhaps I shall see it on TV when it is on next.
The fire fighter life seems hard, I would personally not be too good at it. Did I gather that you were a fire fighter or am I too tired to understand what you said?

No hero. I havn't done in the last 9 months, and maybe never again. I was hurt at my other job and compressed my neck. I have three herniated discs in my neck, which are pressing up against the nerve roots so my left arm is always numb and I have muscle spasms in it all the time. The doctors tell me I'll probally never be able to lift over 50lbs again, ever. Next week I take a FCE test (functioning Capacity Eval) so I'll know more next week.

Gee I'm sorry that sounds really harsh, Edso.
I hope the news turns out to be more positive.
